Entry 01What we do

Aurenhalt reviews survival games and crafting games for players and families in the UK. We only write about games we have played for many evenings, alone and with friends where a game allows it, and every review says how long a sitting takes, where it is safe to stop, who can join you, what it sells once you have bought it and how it treats your eyes, ears and nerves.

Entry 02Why a heads-up display?

Survival games are the one genre that already asks you to watch a character’s hunger, thirst and sleep. It felt natural to borrow that display for the person holding the controller: a day and night dial for the evening, a camp break between two games and four vitals of your own.

Entry 03Where the name comes from

A halt is a place to stop on a long route: a small station, a resting place on a trail. Aurenhalt is meant to be that kind of stop for players, somewhere to check the map before setting out and to be reminded that making camp is part of the journey.

Entry 04Who writes the reviews

A small team of long-time survival and building players, from frozen wilderness and alien oceans to colony builders and co-op rafts, together with parents who set up the family controls on every platform we mention.

Entry 05How the site is paid for

Not by anyone in the games business. There are no adverts, affiliate links, sponsored reviews or products for sale. We host no games, run no accounts and take no payments.

Entry 06Conflicts of interest

If a reviewer has a personal or professional link to a game or studio, someone else writes the review and it says so. We accept no gifts, trips, early copies or in-game items in exchange for coverage.

Entry 07The artwork

Every picture is an original illustration made for Aurenhalt in the spirit of that game’s own look: painterly snowfields for one, glowing alien reefs for another, a warm wooden diorama for a third. None of it is official artwork, a screenshot or a real person. Our campfire emblem is our own.

Entry 08Why UK English?

British spelling, UK age labels and UK support services. No pop-ups, no autoplaying video or sound and no tracking of any kind.

Entry 09Corrections

Spotted a mistake? Tell us through hello@aurenhalt.com. Every report is checked, and corrections are made on the page itself.
